With Parktown Boy's High School's Centenary coming up in 2023, it's been an absolute privilege to design the new crest and identity for them. The current crest has been used since their Jubilee year of 1923, so it was a perfect time to look at updating the school's emblem. The challenge with this project was to get the 'buy-in' from the scholars, teachers, parents, SGB to the alumni and old boys. It was also decided by the committee that the shield - used in so many early applications - be brought back and used as a strong holding shape. The final logo also has various formats having to work effectively on stationery, branding, signage, advertising and so many other applications. We also designed their full corporate identity guideline document as well as all the signage and way-finding running throughout the school. There is an incredible heritage being nearly 100 years old, so the new crest and signage had to compliment some of the older, special lion emblems all around the campus. Part of the new branding includes the centenary icon that will be used on many items going forward - this icon includes the first and latest lions, displaying a quick history in one visual element. We are very excited for Parktown Boy's High School - bring on 2023! Arise!
