Custom 'U2 Bike' Theme & Design
This was one of the many bike design projects we did for South Side Choppers when their doors were still open. The guys at SSC would put the rolling chassis of the bike together and I was called in to come and take some pictures to apply the designs to. Often these bikes looked very bare, and actually had most of their parts missing – but still had to give the client some sort of idea on what his final bike could look like. The 'U2 Bike' was no exception - below one can see the rough bike frame with engine placed, wheels, and basically only the tank and mud-guards attached. Tommie, the owner wanted a 'U2' theme for this machine – so we used some design elements from their 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' album, and this idea was applied to the photos. Once approved, we sent the designs and artwork together with the pieces to be airbrushed and spray-painted to Willie from Galaxy Customs in Pretoria. When completed, the 'tins' and frame went back to SSC for the gorgeous custom machine to be assembled and completed. Below are some images of the completed bike.
